Responsible Dog Ownership and Animal Control

excited puppy

A dog is a lifelong commitment and being a good dog owner means taking care of all their needs such as:

  • feeding a quality diet,
  • supplying fresh water,
  • warm bedding in winter,
  • shade in summer and
  • exercising them.

Responsible dog owners keep their dogs healthy and safe by:

  • de-sexing,
  • vaccinating,
  • having a secure property,
  • registering their dog and
  • microchipping.

What do Animal Control do?

Animal Control takes care of dog and other animal/livestock issues. The team is in charge of enforcing laws and regulations, working with welfare groups such as the SPCA and dealing to stray dogs and livestock. Animal control is here to help with:

  • Wandering animals or stock being chased
  • Dogs in areas where they are banned
  • Dangerous or menacing dogs
  • Persistent barking or dogs causing issues
  • Rehoming
