The Kincaid Water Supply is used for both stock water and domestic purposes, although Kincaid is becoming more and more a domestic supply, due to growth over that area.
Currently the water is treated using a rudimentary chlorine dosing system, and is sourced from the Waimangarara River intake gallery (the same source as was previously used by the Kaikoura urban supply).
As the new water source for the Kaikoura urban supply is secured, the Kincaid water supply will have much more water available from the intake gallery, and many users currently on a waiting list for more water units will be able to purchase these units within the next year.
However, this will require some investment in upgrading the gallery and the reticulation system. Capital works in excess of $160,000 are planned for this rural water supply in 2006/2007. |
