Biodiversity Celebration in Kaikoura
In late March 2009 the Kaikoura District Council, with support from the Regional Biodiversity Coordinator, will hold its first Biodiversity Bonanza. The event, starting on Friday the 27th will provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for those interested in learning more about Kaikoura’s biodiversity and the services and opportunities available to protect, enhance and restore it.
“We want people to be able to wander around and find something interesting and useful. Kaikoura can be ‘isolated’ is some respects and sometimes finding the right service or product to fit your project can be time consuming. The Biodiversity Bonanza aims to pull the appropriate people, services, information, technology and products together under one umbrella (though we hope it’s not raining!).”
Talks, stands and presentations will be a feature of the Friday, with field trips being organised for the Saturday morning, and everything culminating with the celebration of Earth Hour that evening.
On Friday night, meanwhile, a talk about biodiversity in another country – Cambodia – will take place.
Best news, it’s all free, so make a date and come along!
WHEN? Friday March 27th, 9 am – 4 pm, displays and presentations, WHERE? Memorial Hall and surrounding greens, Kaikoura.
AND MORE ... Saturday March 28th, 7:30 am – 11:00 am, field trips.
