Do you know where to go for help?

Kaikoura has several Civil Defence Sector posts and two Welfare Centres, do you know where they are?  Also select this section to find out how to become a volunteer.

Kaikoura's Civil Defence Siren and Warning Systems

The Official Warning system for the town is the prolonged sounding (about 10 minutes) of the fire siren, which will be switched off and on at about 30 second intervals. This will be distinctly different from the normal fire siren.

Depending on the circumstances, other warning systems may be by:
• Notification in person eg Police, other emergency services, military, civil defence volunteers, Council staff.
• Obvious event (eg. earthquake)
• Broadcast by radio and television.

In all cases tune into your local radio station for Emergency Information, Bulletins and Updates
Listen to your local radio Blue FM on 91.9/88.3.
