Feedback received so far:
ITEM # 1: Received Monday 24 January 2011:
"With projects costing millions of dollars (see also new council building) there are always stories involved of dreams and imaginations versus reality and affordability. The worldwide circumstances, the accumulation and acceleration of negative events and it’s consequences are unpredictable even for experts. In a fast changing world, our community needs a clear structure in planning ahead. In the current and upcoming environment, wise financial decisions need to be made in the best interest of the community and businesses. Considering the facts I’m convinced there are less costly, more efficient smaller projects possible for the rather small community of Kaikoura. My vote is a clear - no !" (W. Kunz)
PLEASE NOTE: The Kaikoura Star's article on Wednesday 22 December states the project has a value of over $28 million. This is the NET REALISATION VALUE of the project, and NOT the project cost.
The project is estimated to cost $14.4 million.
