Te Runanga o KaikouraKaikoura District Council maintains an open and participatory partnership with Te Runanga o Kaikoura. The Runanga is the organisation that services the statutory rights of Maori in our district. The Runanga has representatives on a number of Council's decision making committees - particularly those with an interest in the environment and land use, such as the District Plan Committee and the Hearings and Applications Committee. |

Te Korowai o Te Tai o MarokuraAlso known as the Kaikoura Coastal Marine Guardians, Te Korowai o Te Tai o Marokura literally means "the cloak of Te Tai o Marokura", and culturally translates to lay a cloak of guardianship over the sea around Kaikoura. Membership of Te Korowai includes Kaikoura commercial fisherman, recreational fishermen, tourism operators, members of Te Runanga o Kaikoura, and local people with an interest in our environment. |

Environment CanterburyEnvironment Canterbury is Canterbury's Regional Council, and works with Kaikoura District Council to manage our natural resources – water, air, and land. With specific responsibilities for air quality, coastal environments, contaminated sites, pests and biosecurity, Environment Canterbury is a vital partner in our common goal for sustainable guardianship of our environment. |
