Stock Control Rate & Rural Fire Control Rate

Stock Control

Previously funded by General Rates, stock control is a service that benefits, and is created by, properties outside the urban area.  This new rate only applies to rural and semi-rural properties, per the new rating areas (Click here >>>) for more information on these areas.

Stock control involves responding to callouts regarding wandering stock, and administration matters pertaining to the Movement of Stock Bylaw, for example.

Rural Fire Control

The same rationale as for stock control applies to rural fire – the properties benefiting, and creating the need for, rural fire control are those properties outside the urban area.  This activity involves responding to vegetation fires, including provision of adequate firefighing vehicles, training and equipment for rural fire teams, and the administration of fire permits over the district.
