Annual Plan 2008/2009

The Annual Plan 2008/2009 was adopted by Council on 27 June 2008, after receiving 59 submissions from local organisations, clubs, groups and individuals.

In response to submissions, Council has resolved that the amendment to the Long Term Council Community Plan to defer the community facility will not be incorporated into the LTCCP as had been proposed, and instead will undertake consultation to determine the favoured location for the swimming pool, gymnasium and sports complex, as a priority, and having reached agreement will then work with the key stakeholders on the final design of these components.  The intention is to get this project underway as soon as possible.

Further, Council has confirmed that the Museum building join with the Council Office building on Scarborough St, and that design, costing and construction commence as soon as funding is known.

Council has confirmed the removal of the rural rate differential, and has agreed to consider the impact of removing the rate differential on the commercial sector as part of the Long Term Council Community Plan review, which will be undertaken over the next year.

Other changes as a result of submissions were an additional $10,000 to monitor and manage freedom camping, an increase in the annual fee to Sport Tasman, a walkway and cycleway to be developed from Churchill St to South Bay, an increase in the loan provision for the West End upgrade, and water meter charges to be $1.00 per m3.
