Matariki Community Celebration

Matariki is a special occasion which marks the start of the Māori New Year. Signified by the Matariki cluster of stars reappearing in our night sky, this is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.

We are lucky enough to have Rikki Solomon, Academic & Practioner of Maōri Astronomy, and guest artists James Webster & Marcus Winters coming to Kaikōura to lead our celebration which will be followed by a free community breakfast.

Transport will be running between West End carpark and Fyffe House between 5am and 5:30am to minimise traffic and parking congestion on Avoca Street (no booking required)
