📢 Kaikōura Flood Recovery -Daily Update

Kia ora koutou,
Following is our weekend wrap, keeping you up to date on the recovery process and situation. It’s been a long couple of weeks for some. We hope you manage to enjoy your weekend.
🚧 Transport and Access
- Local Roads
- Old Beach Road – Closed
- Puhi Puhi – Residents only by 4WD
- Inland Road – 4WD drive access only due to Cribb Creek ford crossing. Please take extreme care if you have to drive this route.
- Bay Paddock Road is now open
- State Highway One – Open but check NZTA Journey Planner before travel https://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/journey-planner
- Please drive carefully if you need to use the roads, drive to the conditions and expect delays and stops when using Inland Road or SH1.
Cycling Tracks
- Many of the cycle tracks are currently closed, and work is being undertaken to assess the damages. For personal safety, we strongly urge people to not access tracks until assessments are completed.
💧 Water Services
- Kincaid – Boil water notice remains in place
- Peketa- Boil water notice remains in place
- The water is still being treated with chlorine and UV
- Source water quality is slightly improving and will be reviewed again on Monday
Shout Outs
A huge shout out to NZTA and all Hurunui crews for their work in getting the roads open for the weekend!
Equally a massive shout out to the Ecan staff who were there on the ground during the event and now as they continue to work through the repair/protection requirements.
