Boil Water Lifted for Peketa and Kincaid
Kaikōura Hurunui Water Services
Boil Water Notice Lifted for residents of Kincaid and Peketa.
Kaikōura Hurunui Water Services (KHWS) is pleased to advise that the boil water notice
for the Kincaid & Peketa water supplies has now been lifted.
Following the recent water quality issue, KHWS & IWK has undertaken a comprehensive
programme of testing, monitoring, and network flushing to ensure the safety and quality
of the drinking water supply.
The following actions have been completed:
- Manual testing of chlorine residuals and turbidity levels to confirm that the water
complies with drinking water quality specifications.
- Water sampling undertaken over three consecutive days to verify that the
treatment process is operating effectively and consistently producing safe drinking
water.
- Flushing of the water reticulation network, including water mains up to the point of
supply (restrictors), to remove any potentially affected water from the system.
Based on the results of these activities, KHWS is satisfied that the water supply meets
the required drinking water standards and that the boil water notice can be removed.
Important Information for Residents with Water Storage Tanks
Residents who have on-site water storage tanks are advised that water within their tanks
may not have been fully refreshed during the network flushing process.
To ensure the quality of water stored on your property, you should continue to boil all
water intended for drinking, food preparation, and oral hygiene purposes until you
are comfortable that your tank water has been replaced with fresh treated water
supply.
