COVID – It’s time to get ready folks. Some changes Council is making from Monday 28th to keep our services running

With the rapid advance of COVID cases in Canterbury and Marlborough,  Council are making some changes so we can keep the library and reception services open as long as is practical as the impact of sickness is felt on the community and staff.  From Monday 28 February our reception is combining with the library front desk – all customers needing to visit the building should go to the library (remember a vaccine pass is required). This will operate 9-5pm Monday-Friday.  The library will close on Saturdays for deep cleaning.  We will continue to assess the Government’s changes and COVID’s impact in Kaikōura.

For all general enquiries we encourage you to call us on 319 5026 in the first instance – including any welfare enquiries we may be able to assist with (press option #9).

You may be spending more time at home soon – so why not get some books out or learn how to access eBooks or newspapers online? Or join the library! Remember all overdue fees have been removed!

Environment Canterbury’s office in Kaikōura will not be open to the public from Monday 28 February. Rachel remains on the phones at (03) 319 5781, and can advise you how to get in touch with any of their field staff should you require it.  All compliance monitoring and enforcement processes continue, and field staff are following recommended public health measures.
