Consultation on banning single use plastic bags

Capture

The Government is proposing to phase out single-use plastic shopping bags in New Zealand as one step to reduce the negative environmental impacts of plastic waste.

Plastic bags have become integrated in our everyday lives. Globally we use up to five trillion of them each year. But there are now alternatives, and countries, states and cities around the world are phasing them out.

The government would like to hear your views on the proposed mandatory phase out of single-use plastic shopping bags
