Level 2 Council COVID-19 Update

The Government has announced a national response to the recent COVID -19 community outbreak in New Zealand.
Auckland remains at Alert Level 4, the rest of New Zealand is at Level 2.

The Council and the Library will be open normal hours during Alert Level 2 but with increased safety measures to protect against COVID-19.

What you need to know when visiting the Council, Civic Centre

  • The front desk will be open but there will be no face-to-face meetings with Council staff for the remainder of this week. If you wish to speak with a member of the team please ring 319 5026 and our Customer Services champions will take your details so the staff member can call you back. We will review this next week.

  • You must record your visit to the Council by using the COVID tracer ap or by signing in. (Every person over the age of 12)

  • You will have to wear a face covering at all times when you are inside the Civic Centre. (Every person over the age of 12)

  • When visiting the Council please use the lift to go up and go out the back way, staff will direct you to this exit (unless the lift is your only means to access and exit the Council offices.) Only household bubbles are allowed in the lift together. 

  • Keep a 2 m distance between yourselves and others. If the waiting area gets too full you may be asked to wait outside. Please be patient and considerate of others.

  • There will be no cash accepted under Level 2 but you are still able to pay for your rates and registrations by Eftpos at the front desk.

  • Public toilets in the Civic Centre will be closed to the public, West End public toilets will re-open. All playgrounds will open under Level 2. 

What you need to know when visiting the Library, Civic Centre

  • The library is open for you to drop off your books and pick up new reading materials to get you through to Level 1.

  • There will be no Wifi available and no computers for public use. All events are postponed until Level 1.

  • All toilets in the Civic Centre (including the library) will be closed to the public.

  • You must record your visit to the library by using the COVID tracer ap or by signing in. (Every person over the age of 12).

  • You will have to wear a face covering at all times when you are inside the Civic Centre. (Every person over the age of 12).

  • When visiting the library please use the lift to go up and go down the stairs (unless the lift is your only means to access and exit the library). Only household bubbles are allowed in the lift together.  

  • Keep a 2 m distance between yourselves and others. There will be limited numbers allowed in the library. Please be patient and considerate of others.

 We are at Level 2 but we still need to keep on top of this Delta Variant. Thanks everyone, look after yourselves and others. You can still smile with a face covering on – the eyes have it!
