Sea-am Thompson receives the QEII Music Award
Local boy Sea-am Thompson received the QEII Music Award in recognition of his musical achievements on the 23 April in the Kaikōura Civic Centre. The QEII Music Award was established in 1963 following a visit by the Queen and is administered by the Marlborough and Kaikōura district councils. The committee appointed to administer the annual award considers Marlborough or Kaikōura candidate (or candidates) aged 18 or under who, in the previous year, passed the Royal School of Music or Trinity College of Music examinations Grade VIII instrumental or Grade VI vocal.
