How consents are inspected

The grant of a consent is conditional on enabling the building work to be inspected. When a building consent Official carries out building inspections, the goal is to ensure that the work being inspected complies with the consented documents.

Council has 20 working days to process a building consent. They will then notify the owner as to whether the consent has been accepted or declined.

Rating Valuations

Under NZ law, Council is required to carry out an assessment of the capital value of properties in the Kaikōura District every three years. The most recent valuation was carried out over September and October 2018 by independent valuer Quotable Value.
