Farmers urged to complete flood impact survey
Farmers affected by recent flooding in Kaikōura and Hurunui are being asked to complete a Rural Rapid Damage Assessment (RRDA) survey, as response agencies work to understand the scale of impacts across the region.
The survey plays a key role in building a clear picture of how rural properties have been affected, helping to identify where impacts are occurring, how severe they are, and what support may be needed as recovery begins.
Information gathered will directly inform response priorities and early recovery planning, ensuring resources and assistance can be targeted where they are needed most.
Since the survey was released yesterday, initial responses have already been received from farmers in the area, providing valuable early insight into the impacts on rural communities.
Kaikōura Emergency Operations Centre Controller Al Lawn, says it is critical more farmers take the time to complete the survey.
“We need a clear understanding of the needs of our rural community during this event. That information not only helps guide the current response but also strengthens planning and preparedness for future events.”

The call for information comes as the Kaikōura community continues to rally together following the flooding event.
