Community Update 5.30pm - Flooding Event - Tuesday 14th July 2026

Good evening, Kaikōura

Another day is done, with our recovery team out and about assessing the current situation and assisting people as much as possible. This evening’s update consists of the following:

Inland Road Access:

There is no through access into the Hurunui District. The road is closed. Access remains for residents only.

Bay Paddock Road Access:

ACCESS REMAINS CLOSED. Access is available for residents only, from below Kōura Bay.

Old Beach Road Access:

Remains closed and is for residents only.

Water:

The Kincaid Water Scheme treatment plant is now operating, but we still strongly encourage everyone to restrict water use where possible.
