How do we create a Kaikōura that remains a great place to live, work, visit, and invest in for generations to come?
Our draft Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan sets out a long-term vision for a regenerative, resilient, year-round future. It recognises that economic success is about more than growth alone. It is about creating the conditions for people, whānau, businesses, and communities to thrive while protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural assets that make Kaikōura unique.
The strategy focuses on four connected priorities:
- Housing and community wellbeing
- A diverse, year-round economy
- A resilient economy
- Connected, livable, and environmentally rich places
Together, these priorities aim to build a stronger, more prosperous Kaikōura that leaves future generations better off than they are today.
